What's New

Recent updates to Roster Routes.

August 2026

Player page FAQs

  • ·Every player page now has a Frequently Asked Questions section covering their 5 most recent trades.
August 2026

Safer node removal

  • ·Removing a player from the tree now needs a second click to confirm, so an accidental tap next to the close button can’t wipe out your view.
August 2026

More search engine and link fixes

  • ·Fixed the What's New and Thanks pages telling Google they were the homepage.
  • ·The About link on the page-not-found screen now goes somewhere real.
August 2026

Search & accessibility improvements

  • ·Player headshots now have proper descriptions for screen readers.
  • ·Improved how the homepage is indexed by search engines.
August 2026

Removed duplicate trades

  • ·38 trades that were accidentally logged twice under different team abbreviations now show once.
August 2026

Cleaner header

  • ·The X link now appears in one place — the bottom bar — instead of twice on screen at the same time.
August 2026

Player page fixes

  • ·Fixed incorrect trade pages for Kosta Koufos, A.J. Johnson, and Josh Green — each was showing the wrong player due to a mismatched id.
August 2026

Better mobile experience

  • ·Trade trees on phones and tablets are now readable — nodes are larger and player names are legible instead of microscopic.
  • ·Reduced wasted black space on mobile — wide trees now use more of the viewport instead of rendering at microscopic scale.
  • ·Pinch to zoom and the zoom controls work correctly on mobile now. Scrolling no longer gets hijacked by the canvas.
August 2026

Player page fixes

  • ·Fixed Glen Rice Jr.'s trade page — it was incorrectly showing his father's career.
  • ·Fixed duplicate player page URLs that were confusing search engines, and removed dead links from the sitemap.
  • ·Fixed 22 old trades that showed a future draft pick as if the player had already been traded directly — before he was even drafted.
  • ·Fixed 5 players' trade pages that were showing the wrong photo/name due to mismatched ids (Honeycutt, Micic, Kenyon Martin Jr., Hukporti, Korver).
  • ·Fixed 2 more players' trade pages that had mismatched ids (Jonas Valančiūnas, Kevin Porter Jr.).
  • ·Fixed Jalen Williams's draft pick showing the wrong player id.
July 2026

Faster player details

  • ·Player details now load instantly instead of taking a few seconds.
July 2026

Better link previews

  • ·Shared player links now preview with the player’s name and photo instead of generic site branding.
  • ·The Thank You and What’s New pages now show their own titles when shared, instead of the homepage’s.
July 2026

Mobile search fix

  • ·Search bar on phones no longer shrinks down to a bare icon — it now has full room to work.
  • ·Removed a duplicate X/Twitter icon from the home screen header.
  • ·Removed a redundant credits line from the footer — full source details are on the Thank You page.
July 2026

2026 offseason trades are in

  • ·Added the 2026 offseason, including the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to Miami, Jaylen Brown and Paul George swapping places, the LaMelo Ball four-team deal, and a six-team trade involving Dallas, Detroit, the Clippers, Memphis, Milwaukee and Washington.
  • ·Stars traded this offseason now show their real photos instead of a blank silhouette.
  • ·Signing-rights players no longer appear as if they were full players in a trade — they show as their own kind of card.
  • ·Fixed two players whose cards were showing another player’s photo, and whose trade history was split in two as a result.
  • ·Cards in trades involving signing rights no longer sit on top of each other.
July 2026

One consistent code per team

  • ·Brooklyn, Charlotte, Phoenix, and Washington now show the same team code everywhere on a tree. Previously the same team could appear under two different codes depending on the trade, and the date line under a trade could disagree with the team tag on the cards right above it.
  • ·Teams that moved cities are still shown separately on purpose — a Seattle SuperSonics trade stays Seattle, and a Vancouver Grizzlies trade stays Vancouver, rather than being relabeled with the current city.
July 2026

Cleaner, faster trade trees

  • ·Player names now render at one consistent size — names like Kelenna Azubuike no longer shrink to fit when they already fit.
  • ·On big trees (LeBron, Kareem, and others), cards and trade dates no longer overlap — every card gets its own space.
  • ·Trees now land centered the moment they appear instead of sliding into position after you open a player.
July 2026

Removed more duplicate trades

  • ·Fixed 18 more trades that were entered twice with the wrong teams — mostly big multi-team trades that had gotten collapsed into an incorrect 2-team version. Trees for players like Eric Bledsoe now show the real multi-team routing instead of a doubled-up, wrong-direction copy.
  • ·Kosta Koufos now shows his correct photo.
July 2026

Removed duplicate trades

  • ·Over 1,000 trades that were entered twice under different ids now show once. Trees no longer show the same trade doubled up.
July 2026

Trade tree polish: straighter lines, centered players, balanced spacing

  • ·Players without a photo on file now always show the same clean silhouette, instead of sometimes showing a blank card.
  • ·Where multiple players merge into one trade, the connecting lines now join cleanly at a single point instead of overlapping awkwardly.
  • ·Chains of single trades now draw as one dead-straight line instead of a slight zig-zag.
  • ·The player you searched for now sits centered above their trade, with teammates on either side, instead of off to one edge.
  • ·Ty Jerome now shows his correct photo.
  • ·Trade dates and the lines branching from them are now evenly spaced within the tree instead of sitting lopsided.
July 2026

Headshot and rail-line fixes

  • ·Dexter Pittman now shows the silhouette placeholder instead of a blank card.
  • ·Rail-hub bar connections widened so no hairline gap shows at the corner, even zoomed in.
July 2026

Trade tree crossing & layout fixes

  • ·Sibling assets under a trade date now order by where their downstream trades actually lead, so every branch line traces straight down without crossing another (verified across the Bledsoe, Trevor Ariza, and CJ McCollum trees).
  • ·Rail-hub bar no longer leaves a gap above the trade date node.
  • ·Assets traded away vs. received now sit on the correct side of the tree.
  • ·The full tree positions correctly on first load — no more clipping or off-center view before you interact.
June 2026

Tree layout fixes

  • ·Trade tree no longer clips behind the nav bar or overlaps the Prev/Next pill — full tree visible without scrolling.
  • ·Sibling branch lines (e.g. Patterson / Dudley in Bledsoe Trade 3) no longer cross each other.
June 2026

Nav polish and rail-line fixes

  • ·Roster Routes icon added to the nav on every page.
  • ·X/Twitter follow link added to the footer.
  • ·Favicon and app icon now load correctly in browser tabs and bookmarks.
  • ·Header and footer contrast improved — sharper borders, brighter text.
  • ·Removed a stray line between the Perkins/Robinson row and their child trades.
June 2026

Launch prep

  • ·BETA badge, @RosterRoutes Twitter/X link, and data attribution added to nav and footer.
  • ·Silhouette placeholders removed — players without NBA CDN headshots now show clean name-only cards.
May 2026

Hub bar routing fix

  • ·Received-hub and sent-hub bars now position correctly for multi-asset trades — no more phantom crossbars or hidden bars.
  • ·Verified across all 5 Eric Bledsoe trades.
May 2026

Deep link share URLs

  • ·/?nbaId=203081 now opens a specific player's tree directly — shareable links work for every player.
  • ·Prev/Next navigation updates the URL in place so your browser history stays clean.
May 2026

Vercel Analytics + Sentry

  • ·Vercel Analytics added — traffic and usage now tracked.
  • ·Sentry error monitoring configured — production crashes surface automatically.
May 2026

Crossbar fix

  • ·Multi-team received assets (e.g. Patterson / Redick / Dudley) now branch cleanly from a hub node below the date — no more horizontal crossbar artifact.
April 2026

Initial data coverage

  • ·2,421 trades — complete NBA coverage 1956 through 2026.
  • ·3,152 searchable players across NBA history.
  • ·Draft pick resolution — 1,670 of 1,674 picks show who they became.
